FAQ’s

Are you open in winter?

We plan to take a break over the winter of 2024 from the 1st June to 30 September. However we are always happy to have a chat and answer any questions you may have so please don’t hesitate to email or phone.

How do we get to Coromandel Town or Colville?

Coromandel Town is located approximately 3 hours drive from Auckland Airport. Colville is 30 minutes drive north of Coromandel Town and is located on the way to the Coastal Walkway. Hiring a rental car or camper is often a popular option. We recommend you check the fine-print as a large number of rental companies do not permit their vehicles to be driven on gravel roads north of Colville.

Coromandel Town has a population of approx 1700 however this swells to three times that amount in summer. While the Town does have a wide range of accommodation to suit, it does pay to book in ahead early if you are planning for that special time away.

Are You Staying in Whitianga with no Transport?

The super helpful people at Whitianga Tours and Taxi have put together a service that will have you dropped at our base ready to connect to our Coastal Walkway Tour. Not only that but they will collect you from your Whitianga accommodation and point out some of the stunning scenery along the way! If required they will also meet you at the end of the day for the return trip back to Whitianga. To make arrangements please click the link below. You will need to make two separate bookings, one with us for our Coastal Walkway Tour and the other with Whitianga Tours and Taxi for their Connection Service.

Can you take us to Cathedral Cove, Hotwater Beach or Whitianga if we catch the Fuller’s 360 Ferry to Coromandel?

Unfortunately we are not in a position to do this as we are committed to our tours which cover the Northern Coromandel and up to the Coastal Walkway. At this stage there is no local operator who can help you however you could hire a car from the local GAS Service Station.

How do I travel to the Coastal Walkway?

Some rental companies totally exclude their vehicles from use on gravel roads north of Colville, others void their insurance policy. These roads are narrow and winding and are not easy to get accustomed to. We recommend you take a tour with us as this takes the stress out of your day.

What are your minimum numbers?

Due to safety and operational requirements we require a two person minimum for a tour to be confirmed. This at times is frustrating for those travelling alone however we will do our best to put something together for you. We will always touch base close to the departure time to ensure your plans are on track and keep all travellers up to date with any changes.

What vehicles do you have available?

We have two Hiace Vans, one takes 9 passengers, the other 11. We recently added a Hino Liesse with room for 18 passengers.
