Farm Cottage Accommodation

Bookings Available from 1 October 2024

Wrap 1-2 night’s stay around your Northern Coromandel Experience.

  • The History

An elderly cottage dating back to pre-1900 was relocated from further down Wharf Road to our property in the 1930’s. It was formerly the home of the Jeffcoat Family Matriarch, Susannah Jeffcoat (Nannah) and is where she spent her later years before passing in the late 1950’s. Over time it fell into disrepair but now it sits, beautifully restored looking forward to its next journey in life as a quality lodging for our lovely guests.

  • The Location

The fully self-contained cottage is located on a very quiet country road just over one kilometre from Colville Town. It proudly sits in a sheltered, sunny spot on the northern corner of our 20 acre farm. It comes complete with rural views and distant seaviews to the east across the tidal Colville Bay. The front deck makes a welcoming spot to sit and enjoy your morning coffee as the sun rises across the Coromandel Ranges in the morning light.

  • The Contents

With room to sleep from two to six its suitable as either a lovely retreat for couples or perhaps for friends keen to explore the outdoors together. The bedrooms consist of a super-king, a queen bed and two sets of bunks. The cottage is further complimented with open plan kitchen/dining that flows beautifully into a private, leafy backyard with gas Weber BBQ onsite. The cosy lounge is heated with a brand new woodburner and the cottage is finished off with a bath, shower and two toilets.

Rural Vibes and Views

Just out the window is the original Jeffcoat block of land purchased in 1865 not long after the family emigrated from London for a “better life”. Now owned six generations later by Gavin and Leanne Jeffcoat who have continued the farming trend running up to 20 beefies and a dozen sheep. Over the past seven years they have started a programme of fencing and replanting the streams with some very rewarding results.

Coastal Sensations

Just across the way is Colville Bay with the views constantly changing as it transitions from low tide to high tide and back again. Watch the shorebirds as they feed on the mudflats before relaxing on the foreshore over high tide. Dotterils, stilts, herons, godwits and oyster catchers proudly call this their home. Beach access is barely five minutes walk from Susannah’s. Continue along as the road as it threads its way beside the bay under the cover of the huge pohutukawa trees.
